Think of the Lord's prayer as another affirmation, in this case the greatest, most powerful affirmation. Repeat the prayer aloud or silently twice daily. Reproduce it with a copier, carry the copy with you, and say it until you have committed it to memory. You may not be able to do everything the prayer says at first. The concept of forgiving everyone who has ever hurt you is particularly difficult. Change takes time. Remember it doesn't matter how fast you walk down the spiritual road of life. What matters is that you keep walking. Just believe that you can change and it will happen. When it does happen, you will be permanently and totally free of your addictive illness.
